GradeBook
A teacher gradebook that drafts report card comments for you.
GradeBook is a gradebook for teachers that brings classes, students and grades in from Google Classroom and adds what Classroom lacks: private notes on any grade, and anecdotal notes and rubric scores on each student's profile. At report card time it drafts a comment for each student from those grades and notes, and the teacher edits every word before it's final. It cuts the hours teachers spend writing report cards from a blank page.
For teachers, division heads, registrars.

Works with
- Google Classroom: classes, students, assignments, grades and rubrics
- OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini, with your school's own key
How student data is handled
- Runs in Docker with its own PostgreSQL database, on a server your school controls.
- Teachers have their own accounts. When an admin turns an account off, access ends right away.
- Each teacher connects their own Google account to import from Classroom. Re-syncing never overwrites a teacher's own notes.
- When a teacher asks for an AI draft or summary, that student's name, class, term, grades and notes are sent to the AI provider your school chose, using your school's key. Nothing is sent until a teacher asks.
- Admins can download a backup ZIP with a folder per student.
Common questions
Does it replace Google Classroom?
No. Teachers keep using Classroom. GradeBook imports courses, students, assignments and grades from it, and re-syncing picks up new scores.
Does the AI write the final report card?
No. It drafts a comment from the student's grades and notes. The teacher edits every word before it's final.
Which AI service does it use?
Your choice of OpenAI, Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini, with your school's own account and key.
Can two teachers share a class?
Yes. Co-teachers can do everything in a shared class except delete it.
